God’s People Must Disclaimer When They are Expressing an OPINION About Sickness and Not Biblical Truth (What God Says About It)

star-3802391_1920 (1)

If we are believing God for healing based on His Word, we must be very careful who we listen to and follow as far as teachers of the Word and even on social media. The church is filled with the opinions of man about sickness and healing that are unscriptural and often leading God’s people astray when one doesn’t get the Word rooted in oneself FOR oneself. The Word instructs us to test all that we are taught by searching the scriptures to MAKE SURE what we are being taught is His truth.

God’s people must stop looking to others to tell them what to believe but to look to God alone that He tells us what to believe.

I just feel so strongly from the Lord that we must speak very plainly and not tiptoe around the truth as too many of God’s people have been and are perishing for lack of knowledge. And a HUGE area the enemy brings confusion to, even deceiving the very elect, is regarding what God says about sickness and healing. Too many are easily being led astray about this.

As His children and representatives in the earth, we must take much better care with our handling of our words as to not mispresent God and His Holy truth. And His truth is that His children are called to hate all sickness because it’s of sin at its root – as in since the fall of man. Death came into the world THROUGH sin.

“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned,” (Romans 5:12).

Sickness is a form of death, is referred to by God as a curse, and oppression by the devil.

So why God’s own children seem to love to draw so much attention to sickness, in even a remotely positive way, is baffling.

Again, since sickness came into the world THROUGH sin. And sin and all the “grew” out of it – sickness, evil, death – is of the devil, why are God’s people so inclined to refer to sickness – a work of the devil as per God – as a blessing or something to thank God for? God says sickness is a curse (see Deuteronomy 28 – sickness falls under the “curses” category not the blessing category) and of the satanic oppression (Acts 10:38).

The Word and the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ clearly tells us how to both define sickness and what to do with it.

Sickness = a curse; satanic oppression; a work of the devil born through sin at the fall of man

Jesus says: Heal the sick, pray a prayer of faith so those who are sick may be healed, by My stripes, you were healed.

Nowhere does Jesus teach us under the New Covenant (what we are under now) to praise Him for sickness because He attributes it to a work of the devil.

Let’s create an example of some “bad doctrine speech” (unscriptural opinions of man) you can easily find on social media, so we can see how crazy it sounds when made plain and in line with the Word:

False doctrine example 1:

“I’d rather have this sickness in my body than _____.”

Sickness = a work of the devil according to God.

Translation: “I’d rather have this “work of the devil” in my body than ____.” I left a blank because I have heard a myriad of reasons for someone believing they need to punish themselves with sickness.

Jesus’ truth says: “I bore all the curse of the law on My body for you. The curse includes sickness, so I bore that sickness and punishment for you. I took your place. By My blood and My stripes (broken and torn up body), you were forgiven and healed (Isaiah 53; 1 Peter 2:24). By faith, you can exchange that sickness for what I purchased for you – healing. My finished work of the cross and My shed blood are not only big enough to heal you (and did) but are also big enough to deliver you from the sins you are struggling with (and did). My child, why do you insist on listening to a religious, demonic spirits and those influenced by them telling you that you need to be punished with sickness when I bore ALL punishment for you? When will you believe, like a little child, that my Word and grace are not too good to be true? That I am mighty to save? That I came to give you life and life more abundantly (John 10:10)? Let your faith meet my grace (undeserved favor and help) and receive healing from sickness and deliverance from sin. I command all My children to heal the sick not let My children suffer with sickness that I paid for healing for on My body. This includes you and my children around you.”

False doctrine example 2: “I praise God for this sickness He gave me to teach me a lesson.”

Translation: “I praise God for this “work of the devil” He gave me to teach me a lesson.”

Jesus’ truth says: “I came to destroy the works of the devil. The works of the devil are sin and everything that grew out of it – evil, sickness, death, etc. My kingdom has no agreement with the devil’s as a kingdom divided cannot stand. When some speak anything positive about sickness, they are speaking positive about its origin – sin and the devil. You see who the author of this confusion is – the devil – not I AM. I healed you with My stripes (1 Peter 2:24). Past tense. Receive you healing by faith. Stop punishing yourself – that’s religion. That’s why I rebuked the Pharisees. Accept what I already did for you. I know you think you don’t deserve it, but that’s My grace – paid in full for you. My love is so great you cannot fathom it – only believe Me.”

Christian’s who dote on and call sickness a blessing or anything at all positive are actually praising sin a work of the devil.

Think of it!

We must know the Word for ourselves, so we don’t fall victim to the influence of these religious demonic spirits that have even infiltrated the church.

God hates sin. Sickness entered the world through sin because of the devil (so if of the same root). The Word says we are to hate what God hates.

“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil,” (1 John 3:8).

God hates the works of the devil and sent His son to destroy them. God doesn’t expect us to refer to a work of the devil – sickness – as a blessing, to praise Him for it, etc. His will is that sin and all that “grew” out of it be destroyed.

If someone does praise Him for sickness, they are expressing their personal opinion, not His Holy Words about it.

They are also disbelieving (unbelief):

By Jesus’ stripes, we were healed, that Jesus took all the curse for them, that they are under the new covenant of grace, and denying His very name – Healer (Jehovah Rapha).

Healing is not based on deserve but what on Jesus already did – grace. Receive it by faith. No buts.

Here’s an example in the Word of God of man expressing an opinion about God that is not of God nor His truth. He recorded this in His Word so that we can see they were just like us, saying opinions about God that are not His truth:

“But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me,” (Ruth 1:20).

The truth was God never told Naomi and her family to go to the godless land of Moab, a people group who hated the children of Israel and worshiped false gods. They chose to go there by their own free will and were met with much trouble and tragedy there.

Also His truth, Naomi couldn’t yet see it, the moment she decided to return to Bethlehem, “the house of bread,” God was setting her up for a redemption so great He recorded an entire book about it in His Word as a shadow (though an utterly beautiful one) of the ultimate redemption through Jesus Christ.

You can read my post here about Naomi and Ruth to better see how Naomi was merely expressing an opinion about God and His dealings with her and not His Words.

I pray this Holy Spirit led post blessed you.

Prayer

Father, I pray Your people know Your Word and truth regarding sickness and say what You say about it as to not lead others astray, and do what You told us to do about it – heal the sick – in Jesus’ name, amen.

Bible Study (Short), Exposing False Teachings for Jesus' Namesake

3 Ways Man Used Scripture to Birth False Teachings by Making it Self-Centered Instead of God-Centered and Glorifying

3 false teaching man created from self centeredness

Yes, I believe the Word of God is a love letter and instructions from God to us, but I also believe because of it and because the Word IS God (John 1:1) much of how He teaches us to live and the ways He blesses us are always intended to be Christ-centered and to glorify and point to Him, not man.

Three ways man used scripture to birth false teachings by making it self-centered instead of God-centered and glorifying

I. Matthew 16:13-18, “When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

Context: Jesus is asking His disciples who they believe He is.

Way man made this self-centered instead of God-centered: There is a false teaching out there that says Peter is the rock on which He will build His church. Incorrect interpretation. This is why we must fully rely on the Holy Spirit to help us interpret the Word, so we cannot boast and He gets all the glory.

So, what is the Rock?: Let’s re-read verse 16, “Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Going back to context, they are discussing who Jesus is. Peter answers by revelation from God the Father (not of himself, so he could boast), and Jesus tells him that on that revelation from the Father that Jesus “is the Christ, the Son of the Living God” is the Rock on which He will build His church. THE Messiah and Savior of the world had come and is the Rock of all we as His believe to this day and forever.

II. “Healing, the gifts and signs of the Holy Spirit are no longer for today.” Firstly, I can find literally zero verses to support this false teaching. But it states that all manifestations of the Holy Spirit died with the last apostle and that they were only intended by God to confirm the apostles.

Context: Entire God-inspired Word.

Way man made this self-centered instead of God-centered: This false teaching makes all that God did in His Word point to a small group of men and is man-centered and not at all God-centered and glorifying.

What does God say?:

Mark 16:20, “And they [the disciples] went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the Word through the accompanying signs. Amen.”

God used and continues to use His Holy Spirit in us, working WITH us, to confirm the Word which IS Him (John 1:1). This is God-centered and glorifying as He intended and still does.

Hebrews 2:3-4, “How will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.”

“Spoken.” Jesus spoke what? Words. Words about how to be saved, and God confirmed His Word, thus confirming and glorifying Himself using signs, wonders, and miracles, not the confirmation of man.

Isaiah 44:26, “Who confirms the word of His servant and performs the counsel of His messengers.”

God is He that confirms His own Word for His glory, so that we come to saving faith and heal the sick, etc. It is Him and Him alone who performs.

Dear Lord forbid that any man being used by God as a vessel of the Holy Spirit say God is confirming his or her words or power but His Word, power, and the words He gave them through His Spirit.

III. 2 Corinthians 12:7, “And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.” To gain very important understanding and background of this controversial verse, you can also check out my post, The Thorn in the Flesh False Doctrine and Healing. The Holy Spirt is our absolute best Teacher for understanding the Word in a revelatory way as He intended. Not just knowing it secondhand from anyone else, including pastors which is where these false teachings come from to begin with.

Context: Entire God-inspired Word.

Way man made this self-centered instead of God-centered: This one requires a much more in-depth, Holy Spirit dependent study through the Word, but I tried to summarize it the best I could prayerfully and with God’s help.

Paul’s thorn in the flesh wasn’t a sickness, and he wasn’t at all concerned about himself but that the demonic spirit was hindering him getting the Word (Jesus) to the people that he so loved and wanted to reach for Christ.

What does God say?:

By the goodness and the grace of God, the Holy Spirit gave me a very powerful revelation on this regarding Paul’s thorn in the flesh.

The TRUE WHY behind him persisting in prayer to be relieved of the thorn, a demonic messenger that stirred up persecution to hinder the gospel, is not about him but all about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul’s asked three timed for God to remove the thorn in the flesh that was stirring up so much hindrance and persecution against him that it was very difficult for him to preach the gospel and for it to take root in people.

If we read Pauls’ writings, we see his heart and character come through. Asking God to remove the demonic messenger that hindered the gospel was all about Jesus, His true gospel (salvation, healing, and deliverance), and his love for people (also a command of God).

Additionally, in his writings, we discover him to be a selfless man who didn’t even care if he died and who was heartbroken when the people he loved and taught the gospel of grace and word to strayed from it. To say that Paul was overly concerned about a thorn, the demon, attacking him directly would greatly discredit and downplay his character that shines through and who he was as a person in Christ. Not perfect but far more about Jesus and others than himself.

Acts 21:10-14, “And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ”12 Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.”

Then if we also read the book of Galatians, we see the heart and character of Paul as well, that it’s all about the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, thus Jesus, thus God-centered not self-centered.

The thorn being removed is about the gospel to Paul and not how he was affected directly but because he was persecuted and hindered that the RESULT was people were kept from the gospel. So, that’s why he really persisted in asking for the thorn (demonic messenger) to be removed – he couldn’t stand that the gospel (Jesus) was being hindered/kept from people. He loved Jesus and people that much.

Also, Paul and the disciples had the irrevocable power and authority to heal the sick in Jesus’ name. No need for Paul to beg God to heal him. The thorn was a demonic spirit stirring up persecution/hindrance of the gospel (Jesus) to the people, Paul’s TRUE heart concern, not himself.

I pray this brief study blessed you.

All of these things are about God and God-centered but man making the Word about themselves, in these instances, has caused and created false teachings that have led people astray. God always gets the glory, and we are called to glorify Him. Man can dangerously misrepresent God to people by making things in the Word intended to be about Him incorrectly about themselves.
